Top Prospects 2009: Week 4
By Ron Jumper

Last season, there were headline backs that we followed all season long. However, now that they are in the NFL, it is the less heralded backs that are stealing the show. It is Matt Forte and Chris Johnson that are just tearing up defenses with ease each week. That being said, will that trend continue in the years to come?

We have talked about about the Javon Ringers and LeSean McCoys of the world, but will the small school back steal the show in the end once again? It just might happen. The question then is simply who? Well look no further than New Mexico’s Rodney Ferguson, Eastern Michigan’s Terrence Blevins, Ball State’s MiQuale Lewis, and UConn’s Donald Brown. They all do it in different ways but, someday, they should be doing it on Sundays. I expect to find more diamonds in the rough as the season progresses, but this should do for now.

The Big Board:

1. WR Michael Crabtree, Texas Tech
They might actually play a real team sometime soon.

2. DE George Selvie, USF
Sacks in back to back games.

3. LB James Laurinaitis, Ohio State
Not his fault they can’t score…

4. OT Michael Oher, Ole Miss
Has been steady on unsteady offense.

5. FS Otis Wiley, Michigan State
The man is a freak and just makes plays.
