2008 Fantasy Preview: Top 50 Cheat Sheet
By Staff

We have ranked all the players individually, but now it is time for our overall rankings. We try to answer some of the key questions that you will probably have going into the draft. When should Brady go? How should we feel about Steven Jackson? Who are some of the guys that we love to break out onto the scene this season? All that and more right here, right now.

With Tom Brady, I have a fear that he will pull a Peyton Manning after his record-breaking season. In 2004, Manning had 49 TDs then followed it up with only 28 TDs in 2005, putting him in the middle of the pack of the top Fantasy QBs. If you had drafted Manning in round 1, then your team was hurting. I’m a little skeptical that might happen with Brady this season, as they won’t have the same chip on their shoulder to slaughter anything in their path. However, when I look at the running backs, I see a dip after our top 6 so we slotted Brady at 7. Both Ric and I love taking an RB with the first pick, but if all 6 top RBs are gone I have to at least consider Brady before I take Frank Gore or Clinton Portis. That can also depend if it is a 10 or 12 team league, because the running backs will start to get scarce by your second pick in a 12-team league. Pick with caution and an eye on who you can land in Round 2.

Steven Jackson was our guy when we thought he was going to be playing in a contract year and going after big money. Now, we aren’t even sure he is going to play this season. As of today, we think he will still play so we have him ranked pretty high. However, keep an eye on this and adjust accordingly over the next 3 weeks.

As always, we try to find some guys primed for breakout seasons. Look no further than receiver than to see who we have projected higher than everyone else. We also have a Jet ranked really high that everyone else doesn’t but it isn’t Brett Favre. Enjoy!
