Free March Madness Picks: Elite 8 Sunday
By Ron Jumper
With a perfect 2-0 Saturday, I hope that Sunday offers the same amount of success. I think both games offer much more intriguing matchups and will be closer than Saturday's action. Both games offer great contrasts in styles. The Hoyas are a big team with an effective half-court offense, while the Tar Heels like to play a fast pace with their deep bench. The Gators strength is in the paint, while Oregon has a plethora of 3-point snipers on the perimeter. The winners will be whoever can play the game at their styles.
NCAA Tournament Record: 17-12-1
Oregon (+7) covers vs. Florida
The Gators have been playing just good enough to win. The Ducks have been playing at their peak. Oregon is playing the best it can at the right time. While Florida is the far superior team, Oregon can win this game if they have a good shooting night. That being said, expect the Gators to turn it on just enough to get by. Gators 72-69
Georgetown (+3.5) covers vs. UNC
The Hoyas have one of the few players that can frustrate Tyler Hansborough in Roy Hibbert. If Hibbert can get going inside and get to the charity stripe, the Hoyas will have a huge advantage. I also think Jeff Green will have a huge day for the Hoyas because of his ability to go inside and out. If the Tar Heels can't get out and run, I expect that to lead to an upset. Hoyas 62-60
