Free College Picks: Week 6
By Ron Jumper
I’ve decided to change things up a little bit. Since I’m doing so well in NCAA football, I thought I would just stick with that. I’ll still give the Monday Night Special, but that is the only NFL game I’m going to take on.
NCAA Record: 20-9-1
NFL Record: 7-12-1
Money Balance: $235.50
Indiana (+8) covers vs. Illinois
The Fighting Illini hasn’t had a Big Ten winning streak in a long time. The odds of them winning back-to-back conference games are very slim. This Indiana team is going to be better this week because they have their head coach Terry Hoeppner back, after suffering through many surgeries. Don’t forget this Hoosier team beat Illinois 36-13 last year. Indiana 21-17.

Wake Forest (+17) covers vs. Clemson
The Demon Deacons are at home and 5-0. The Tigers have struggled recently against Wake Forest, losing 2 of their last 3. The Tigers have been impressive this season, but look for them to pull this one out late in the game. Clemson 28-24.

Texas A&M (-2) covers vs. Kansas
The Aggies need a big win after losing to Texas Tech last week. The Jayhawks just aren’t that good, nevermind they played Nebraska close last weekend. Expect Stephen McGee to exploit the Jayhawk defense, as they haven’t faced a good rushing offense yet this season. The Aggies should force turnovers as well, as the Kansas quarterbacks have combined for 10 interceptions already this season. Aggies 24-10
Risk $22 to Win $20
Bowling Green (+35.5) covers vs. Ohio State
The Buckeyes are by far the better team, so don’t expect this one to be close. However, Bowling Green is good enough to put up a score or two. Expect the Falcons to squeak by the spread when the Buckeyes put the backups in late in the game. Buckeyes 38-10
Risk $22 to Win $20
LSU (-3) covers vs. Florida
The Gators haven’t seen speed like this yet this season. Expect Chris Leak and Tim Tebow to make costly mistakes, as well as Florida’s lack of a kicking game to come back and haunt them. As for LSU, JaMarcus Russel is playing phenomenal. He is 2nd in the nation in QB Rating, completing 70% of his passes and throwing 10 touchdowns with only 1 interception. LSU 24-17
Risk $22 to Win $20
