Week 5 NFL Picks
By Ron Jumper
This week in the NFL should be another interesting week. How will the Cowboys do after all the T.O. distractions? Can the Seahawks keep up without Shaun Alexander? Has the Patriots dominance finally ended? I also am curious to see the outcome of the San Diego-Baltimore game. All in all, it should be a fun weekend.
College Review:
Money Balance: $301.50 (+101.50)
Overall Record: 27-16-2 ATS
Tennessee covered vs. Memphis Won $42
Georgia Tech covered vs. Virginia Tech Won $21
Vanderbilt covered vs. Temple Won $42
Pittsburgh covered vs. Toledo Lost $11
Ohio State covered vs. Iowa Lost $11
NFL Picks:
Indianapolis Colts (-8.5) cover vs. New York Jets
The Colts cover 2 scheme should be able to matchup well with Jets offense, especially since the Jets have no running game. With the Colts offense still as good as ever, I have to take them to cover against the Jets. Colts 31-10
Risk $11 to Win $10
Arizona Cardinals (+7.5) cover vs. Atlanta
The Cardinals run defense hasn’t allowed a 100-yard rusher. The Falcons have struggled containing opponent’s second and third receivers, which is a tough matchup when facing the Cardinals. With Warner on the hot seat and the Cardinals needing a win, expect Arizona to look good against Atlanta. Atlanta 24-21
Risk $11 to Win $10
Miami Dolphins (-4.5) cover vs. Houston Texans
The key for me is Ronnie Brown. He has run the ball better every game so far this season and, with the Texans likely to put more emphasis on pass defense after last week, should be able to blow up the Texans defense. Expect Culpepper to make some big plays off play-action passes. Dolphins 24-10
Risk $11 to Win $10
Cincinnati Bengals (-6.5) cover vs. New England Patriots
The Bengals are just the better team and they are at home. The Patriots just don’t have the talent on defense to slow down this high powered offense. Expect Chad Johnson to have a big day as this game isn’t as close as it was expected to be. Bengals 31-13
Risk $11 to Win $10
R.C.’s NFL Pick Of The Week:
Record: 4-2
Cleveland Browns (-3) cover vs. Oakland Raiders
The Browns are solid and they seem to be getting better. Let us be honest, they are playing the Raiders and it just doesn’t take much to beat them.
